Meet our Director and Pilates guru, Teri! Teri is passionate about helping people move towards their best possible quality of life in a supportive and encouraging environment and believes Pilates plays a vital role in providing that service!
Teri completed her STOTT Pilates Advanced Mat Work course in 2015 and also completed her Breathe EDU Cert IV in 2018. Teri is also very passionate about pre and postnatal care "I love empowering mums and mums-to-be, helping them feel strong during pregnancy and regaining their strength as soon as they can post natal"
She has always loved practicing Pilates herself and now loves seeing the benefits Pilates provides to her clients – postural awareness, flexibility, strength and all round fitness!
“We live in a world where there is a lot of sitting for long hours, focusing on computers and driving, and unfortunately our postures are affected by this sedentary lifestyle. I hope that by creating postural awareness and getting people moving so that they are able to be more in-tune with their posture and body.”
Teri loves seeing the smile on her clients’ faces after they have completed a Pilates class. “That particular smile reserved for a class that leaves them feeling mentally and physically challenged, happier and stronger!”
Teri’s grounded upbringing and the love and support of her big family ensures she genuinely cares about her clients, and she enjoys seeing smiles on their faces, whether it’s through a great Pilates class or just a good chat.
She wanted to create a space where people felt loved and cared for while getting them to their best self - with this vision, Life Ready Studio was born!
With her warm and bubbly nature, Teri keeps her classes fun, challenging and exciting (you'll always get that hidden burn at the end of class)
When she’s not teaching at the studio, Teri loves to practice pilates, running, walks along the beach, drinking red wine and relaxing with her beautiful family!
After commencing Pilates around 14 years ago following an injury, Tessa fell in love with how good it was for the body and mind, leading her to want to teach it and share her love of movement and helping people’s bodies’ to work as well as they are made to.
“I love helping people to move, get stronger, feel strong and to feel good.”
She completed her Pilates studies with Polestar Pilates International, graduating in May 2018 and now enjoys teaching all aspects of Pilates and aiding in a wide range of conditions.
Outside of work, Tessa enjoys getting out for a surf, yoga, more Pilates, being outdoors (especially the beach) and because she’s a bit of a film buff – watching movies.
Alana has been practicing Pilates since 2013 when a friend dragged her along to a mat class. She instantly fell in love and has never looked back!
As a myotherapist, Alana has always used exercise prescription to help continue her client’s recovery so it was only natural that she combines her personal love for Pilates with her professional career.
Alana completed her Matwork certification with Studio Pilates in 2019 and now uses her Pilates training for fitness as well as in a rehabilitation setting. Alana is also currently completing her reformer training with Polestar Pilates International.
Michelle has practised Pilates for more than 10 years after being introduced to the movement form after an injury.
She loved how Pilates stretched and strengthened her body and mind, and allowed her to manage injury and muscle tightness safely through movement.
Michelle completed her Reformer Pilates studies with Polestar Pilates International in 2019 as a partial career change from her desk-based job as a health communications professional.
Kate has been working in the healthcare industry for 17 years. She has worked in both the health and fitness industry, as well as in Clinical practice.
She completed a Masters in Chiropractic in 2008 at RMIT and, in addition to her Chiropractic studies, is a certified Pilates instructor and EFT practitioner. She is currently studying Kinesiology and loves to combine her knowledge and experience in helping support others improve their posture, health, and overall wellbeing.
Outside of work, Kate loves to spend time in nature – whether that is cycling down at the local beach or doing a day hike trip somewhere. She also loves to dabble in a creative side, having previously studying acting and taking sewing classes.
Pilates plays a huge role in Kaiya's life, it's something she loves to teach but also practice in her own time. After completing her 300hr Mat and Reformer teacher training through One Hot Yoga she knew that she wanted to follow this path as it's a powerful activity that builds strength for your body and mind.
Becoming completely in tune with your body, Kaiya loves to find a balance between providing a challenging class, whilst maintaining a connection to your mind and breath work. Her light hearted, joyful energy helps you keep motivated and you will leave the class with a smile.
Outside of work Kaiya loves being outdoors, whether it's by the beach or finding a fun hike. Her weekends are spent with her friends and family always having a laugh and maybe a few cheeky margaritas as well!
Laura started practicing Pilates over 8 years ago to manage her back and neck pain associated with scoliosis as well as a working at a desk full time. After realising that Pilates could be used as a preventative measure to manage pain, as well as noticing other benefits such as stress relief, increased muscle strength and better movement, she was hooked! Regular practice developed into a strong passion for Pilates and all it could do for the mind and the body, driving Laura to complete her 300 hour Mat & Reformer teacher training in 2020.
